Chasing Curves
Settling on the seat, turning the key the bike breaks into life, lights flashing, dials spinning, electronics whirring. Then the starter button is brushed and the bike throbs with the contained fire inside the cylinders only inches from one’s knees. First gear is engaged, the view taken in then the harmony of flight begins as the wheels increasingly consume the road ahead. Now the bike has become its true self out on the road the movement solid as a stone. All else is forgotten as the concentration levels rise and the rider has entered the zone.
Chasing curves over a swelling landscape the bike enters the pure expression of physics and is bound to the road in a way no car will ever know. Engaged in all the senses and elements, balanced in the present tense the rider can taste moments of oneness with the motion and patterns that form the experience of riding.
